WASTE MANAGEMENT

Fruit that is not suitable for table consumption is processed into juice. The remainder is repurposed for animal feed. Water is purified. Packaging? It is recycled.

Here, waste is not an end; it is another way to begin.

Wastewater Treatment

Wastewater Treatment

Our wastewater treatment plant handles the volume of our entire production process.

The treatment plant carries out a biological process through a biological reactor and a chemical process. This process uses the reactor to promote the growth of bacteria, which decompose the organic matter present in the wastewater.

Additionally, we have a chemical degradation zone using chemical precipitation (coagulation and flocculation), ion exchange, neutralization, adsorption, and disinfection (chlorination).

Packaging Management

At Fontestad, we are committed to the responsible management of agricultural waste. We are part of a collection and recycling system for empty phytosanitary containers, as well as the collection of packaging from other agricultural products through AEVAE.

Our facilities feature three plastic collection points, available for both our farms and our other suppliers, thus facilitating the proper treatment and recycling of these materials.

By-product Management

Generated by-products that cannot be used in the juice industry are repurposed as animal feed, closing the cycle and preventing the waste of resources.
